The building of the latest luxury cruiser of shipping company Costa Cruises began on July 31 at the Meyer Turku shipyard. The ship – Costa Toscana – will be delivered in spring 2021. Allstars Engineering Oy will be designing several areas of the ship within different disciplines.

Like its sister ship Costa Smeralda, Costa Toscana will be using liquified natural gas (LNG) as fuel. Costa Cruises belongs to the Carnival Corporation, which set themselves the target of reducing the carbon emissions of their fleet by 25% by 2020. This environmental target was reached already in 2018, when emissions were decreased by 27.6%.

The Costa Cruises fleet consists of fifteen ships that operate under Italian flag in the Mediterranean Sea, the Caribbean, the seas of northern Europe and the Far East. Costa Smeralda will be operating in the Mediterranean, Costa Toscana’s routes will be announced in the next few months.
